A NOTE FROM OUR DIRECTOR

The opportunity to perform in a concert is an exciting, empowering and confidence-building part of the training process. This is where we love to watch our students learn about performance, rehearsals and teamwork while they enjoy the opportunity to showcase their skills in a professionally run production. Concerts are a wonderful way for students to showcase the results of their hard work and for family and friends to join in the pride of their achievement. We love giving all students the chance to perform for their family and friends in this supportive and fun environment and encourage even our youngest and newest performers to be involved.

If there is any reason why your child will not be able to perform at the concert on the dates and times provided, please let us know so we can make amendments to the class routines involving them.

Please note: that unfortunately any families with unpaid fees will not be allowed to participate in our concert.

This is without a doubt the highlight of our year and we are giddy with excitement to show you how hard our dancers have been working!

Thank you for taking the time to read all information contained on this site. It should cover any questions you have, if not, please feel free to reach out to one of our team. Hope you are all looking forward to the concert as much as we are!

Miss Debra

ATTENDANCE & PARTICIPATION

All students participate in our End of Year Concert and students work on these routines each week in class, developing their skills in the process and learning the importance of rehearsal, commitment, performance techniques and teamwork.

In terms of attendance, it is very important that students do not miss any of their scheduled classes between now and concert time so they can spend their rehearsal time together to perform their routines, feel confident and look amazing. Of course, this is only if it can’t be helped and in line with studio guidelines. If for any reason your child will miss a number of their regular classes in Term 4, we ask that you contact reception to let us know in advance.

If there is any reason why your child will not be able to perform at the concert on the dates and times provided, please let us know so we can make amendments to the class routines involving them.

PERFORMER PACK

A performer pack of $100.00 per student will be payable. This will be included in your direct debit in November. Students who have not paid this fee will be unable to perform in the concert. If you have 2 siblings both performing in concert, this fee is reduced to $60 each.

At ADDCo we understand that the end of year is a busy time for families, so we aim to keep rehearsals to a minimum. This in studio rehearsal day will ensure students will have a full rehearsal of their show.

Students need to do the following for dress rehearsal week:

  • NO costumes are required

  • NO hair or makeup is required

CONCERT DAY PROCEDURES

DROP OFF & PICK UP

On concert day, all of the students will be staying backstage with us for the duration of the concert. Students need to have their hair and makeup done and stockings on before being dropped off. Students are required to arrive at 10am on concert day.

During the dropping off times, we ask that one parent/guardian comes with their child into the drop off area (you will be directed once inside the venue). Students will need to know what allocated group they are in. See the CONCERT GROUPS & ORDER button below.

All students will need to be picked up from the drop off point after the show. Students will stay in this location and need to have their name marked off by their group leader.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask us. We will ensure that we talk you through the concert day procedure again in the weeks leading up to the concert.

SECURITY & STUDENT SAFETY

To help with student organization and safety, all students will be put into an allocated 'group’. Please see the "show specific info" on this site and make sure your child knows what group they are in.

As always, the safety of our dance family is our #1 priority. Only ADDCo staff and registered parent helpers are permitted backstage. We are unable to run messages or food to students, so please make sure they have everything before they come backstage for rehearsal and the recital/concert. There will be a someone at the door for the entire day. We do this to protect the students, please respect this policy. Please try not to bring anything valuable, especially electronic devices. Mobile phones are not to be taken backstage or in the changing areas during the concert. Our studio will take no responsibility if an item is damaged, misplaced, lost or stolen.

MEDICAL CONDITIONS

If your child has any Medical Conditions that may require attention whilst in our care or are carrying any medication with them, please notify our supervisors when you sign in.

WHAT TO WEAR AND BRING

WHAT TO WEAR

COSTUME

It is the students responsibility to look after their own costumes.

Please make sure your child understands that it is important that their costume goes back in the bag labelled with their name.

SHOES & STOCKINGS

Tap - Black lace up or strap and buckle tap shoes with tan stockings

Jazz - Black jazz shoes with tan stockings

Ballet - Pink ballet shoes with pink ballet stockings

Lyrical - No shoes, stirrup/convertible tan stockings, foot thongs if they require

Hip Hop - Black or white canvas shoes, lace or no lace (available from kmart, Big W, Target)

Cheer - Plain white canvas shoes as above, tan stockings

Acro - No shoes, stirrup/convertible tan stockings

Gymnastics-No shoes, stirrup/convertible tan stockings, purple shiny leotard with matching scunchie

Note: Every female student in Tiny Dancers will only wear tan stockings (flesh coloured) It is preferable that students wear correct dance stockings.

Stockings, shoes and undergarments are all available for purchase at the studio in the lead up to concert or they are available from any dance shop.

UNDERWEAR

Please be aware that under stage lights, dark coloured or patterned underwear does not look good under light coloured costumes. Please make sure your child is wearing flesh coloured underwear.

HAIR

Dancers will require slicked back hair in the hairstyle noted with their costume.

You will need to use a lot of hairspray/gel and a fine tooth comb to achieve the slick look and possibly multiple elastics. Please also use an elastic the same colour as their hair. Bun net is required for buns.

Please note, for boys neat and tidy hair is all that is required. No colours or crazy hairstyles please.

MAKEUP

Stage makeup needs to be heavier than normal day makeup. This is because the stage lights can be quite harsh, and without heavier makeup they can make a Dancers face appear 'washed out'. Please try not to cake it on or make it look like a mask as this does not look natural on stage.

  • Apply make-up base. Foundation needs to be darker than what their normal shade would be. Apply pinkish brown tone blush to cheekbones.

  • Apply neutral/brown eye shadow on lid – work from the inside corner along the lash line. You may also like to use white under the brow to highlight.

  • Define the eyes with black eyeliner pencil. Use along the top and bottom lash lines. Not required for Tiny Dancers.

  • Add lots of black mascara to both top and bottom lashes, false lashes are not compulsory. Neither is required for Tiny Dancers.

  • Apply red lipstick (without this it could appear a Dancers lips have gone missing under the lights!)

We also offer a hair and makeup service on concert day for $30. If you would like to book this in, please let us know by 24th November.

Please note, boys are not required to wear makeup, although we do suggest a little bit of face powder to take the shine off their face once onstage.

JEWELLERY AND NAIL POLISH

Only jewellery to be worn is our standard sparkly earrings that you can purchase from the studio. Please leave all other jewellery at home. Also, please remove all nail polish.

WHAT TO BRING

FOOD & DRINK

In line with venue rules we are allowed food in dressing rooms. Nothing sloppy or messy please, and remember there is no heating facility. Please bring a labelled water bottle too.

PACKING CHECKLIST

It is suggested that students bring all of their belongings in a small plastic box. It is much easier than rummaging through a bag. Please write their names all over the box and on everything that they bring, every year we have so many pairs of dance shoes and uniforms lost that are never claimed. Please use the following checklist:

  • Stockings and dance underwear (wear on arrival)

  • Shoes

  • Makeup for touch-ups

  • Extra bobby pins, safety pins, hair spray, elastics

  • Water, water and more water

  • Students may want to bring a small quiet game, book or something to keep them amused.
